Thrilling UK horror skin walker creature had such a cool art design too. The analogy about facing your fear of death & embracing your manhood was inspirational & hit close to home. Every modern man can relate. Definitely recommend this movie if you like horror. The only issue is the pagan elements that are a central plot point. And how they are depicted are only relevant if you're terminally online like me. If so, read below:
RANT:
I support Pagans and think they get a bad rap. I have a friend who is raising his daughter as Pagan and they are of the Red Ice variety. Very wholesome and just trying to reconnect with their roots even if it is a bit LARPy. I also have some friends into tarot and other new agey stuff. Both get lampooned in Hollywood and Hollywood adjacent productions. Which on one hand, is super based and refreshing. I loved the "Insidious" and "Conjuring" series. Which are both implicitly (and likely unintentionally) trad because they have strong pro faith messages. And warnings about exploring metaphysical forces with too much hubris. "Talk to Me" is still one of my top horror films despite the hate I got on ZR about it. This rise in wannabe witches and psychonauts is genuinely dangerous. It's become so normalized that you no longer get warnings about ouija boards, or about making sure you do mushrooms in nature and around ppl you trust.
So I am grateful that fedora tippers are hated on by pretty much everyone now, both left and right. And I think horror films about unorthodox explorations of the metaphysical are one of the best ways to properly educate teens/young adults about how serious this stuff is.
Having said that, I think this scaremongering plants a messed up perversion in people's minds. Setting them up to have a bad trip or get freaked out by exploring other religions. The verdict is still out for me on if Nietzsche was right about Christianity or not. It's clearly become its own thing and I am pro Christian. But I love films like "The Northman" and wish there were more films that showed our ancestors in a positive light, regardless of the religion or era.
Unrelated to the film, but here are some interesting debates on Christianity v.s. Paganism if you're interested:

Glad Kevin97 recommended this. Didn't know what to expect but it's the exact kind of horror movie I like. No (intended) agendas at all. An exhilarating nail biter throughout especially if you like to hike and camp. The
