You will be altered
The definition of kino is that it leaves you feeling altered afterwards, which this movie certainly does.
Those who don't like it probably looked up the plot beforehand on Wikipedia, or spent the entire movie trying to resolve it into a genre category in their tiny little birdhead. If you're going to watch this, just watch the movie and don't form any preconceptions.
In fact, that probably goes for most flicks. I don't even like looking at the movie poster half the time, or knowing the director, because it biases you. I know if I see Joel Schumacher's name pop up that it predisposes me to not be as invested because of his tendency to go milquetoast - yet it's also true that he has some decent movies, especially in the earlier part of his oeuvre.
It's always better to go in blind.
