This is a kids show but it's like Shrek in the way that it has appealing aspects for adults to enjoy. Also lots of half naked people with perfect bodies so maybe not appropriate for young kids. Anyways, what makes this really cool is that it is unapologetically pro natal, pro human, anti Marxist, pro science, and neutral to nature. I noticed that every show or video game from Japan has very hippie tropes that hint that humans are a plague on the Earth. And we are destroying mother nature and that technology and progress are evil. It's a tiring cliché we see in Western media too. And I remembered thinking years ago that somebody needs to make a show or movie with the opposite take. Showing how awesome technology is and how cool it is that we've come this far. Well, that's "Dr. Stone." It's a nerdy protagonist v.s. an anarcho primitivist. One is all a bout reestablishing civilization and all our tech, and the other is a might makes right guy. The writing is really bad and the characters are simple vessels for ideologies. Often shouting "we will harness the awesome power of science!" Or whatever. But again, it's a kids show. Still, it's refreshing to see something like this with a decent budget and multiple seasons. And I don't know how it ends, but I doubt they betray the audience like most Western shows do, so give it a shot. I googled the manga creator to see if the Japanese government sanctioned this, that's how overt the message is. Someone said it's an Ayn Rand wet dream. But from what I could tell, he's just a nerdy guy who wrote the script and got a South Korean to draw the comic. It's just so in your face, when they talk about how they harness people's greed to better society and stuff like that. Also VERY Japanese. All the stereotypes you see when people make fun of anime are in this. Like the insane overreactions and showing all the characters gasp when something happens. I think they do this because the subject matter is kind of boring. They are science lessons about how agriculture works and how chemicals bond to make a useful tool. Oh and I am not a fan of man v.s. nature motifs. This is kind of like that, but they say that nature is neutral. They anthropomorphize it to add some excitement when they are getting sulfuric acid or whatever, but they aren't anti-nature. They just aren't Studio Ghibli hippies that act like nature is a pure angel we are corrupting. But rather a neutral force that humans are awesome for overcoming. Real bizarre, one of a kind. Hope to see more media with similar worldviews.
