Look, I get the differentiation argument. On paper it sounds right. But the site’s been running since 2018, so this isn’t a guess about the audience. We already lived it.

The X example doesn’t fit us. Musk can run X at a loss for as long as he likes. Advertisers actually walked after he loosened moderation and revenue dropped hard, he just doesn’t care because he’s got billions to burn. We don’t. Nobody covers our hosting bill, and there was never any ad money to lose in the first place, because no ad network will touch a site like this.

And here’s the part that told us everything. We kept donation banners up the whole time, for years. Almost nobody ever gave a cent. Not because the traffic wasn’t there. Because people won’t put their name or their card on an openly anti-woke site, even the ones who agree with it. They read it for free, nod along, and close the tab. That’s this audience. Loud, but they don’t pay, and they don’t want to be seen paying.

So that’s how we got here. It was never a promotion problem. The features ran for years and the market gave the same answer every year: strong opinions, zero dollars. A site that can’t cover its own hosting isn’t a business, it’s a hobby somebody else funds.

Honestly, why are you calling it toxic? Did your vision change from the original one? The only reason this website gain any popularity at all was the unique rejection of and opposition to progressivism/liberalism. That is what made this website different from all the others. You already have a way to filter for family friendly content in IMDb, so what distinguishes your website from theirs which is far bigger already? Do you really think people will want to switch to this website? What for? The public consensus has drastically changed in favor of nationalism in the last half a decade in both the US and Europe so your website is now more relevant than ever with normies as well. You only need to advertise the website properly and people will come. Here is an analogy for you to understand how my comparison with IMDb works. There have been across time many websites which tried to compete with youtube like Vimeo or DailyMotion, but they failed because of the sheer size of YouTube. IMDb has a lot more titles already on their platform, new titles get added a lot more often, they have a lot more reviews and a number of ratings filter. Now why do you think Twitter is currently number 1 in the app store for news? Because of their unique rejection of most censorship, they differentiated themselves from Facebook and Instagram by allowing more speech and this uniqueness attracted more users. If you are paying attention to the rapidly increasing number of nationalist protests and activism across Europe, it should be easy to realise that your potential market is increasing, not decreasing. Find good ways to get advertisments out there, to get big influencers to promote your website, don’t just become like all other movie review websites, be unique!

The only real reason ZG Reviews ever stood out was its open rejection of progressive/woke ideology in film. That was the entire unique selling point. Without the diversity percentages, gender stats, LGBT/woke markers, and the “Majority white” filter, what exactly is left that IMDb doesn’t already do better?
IMDb already lets people filter for family-friendly content. It has far more titles, far more ratings, and far more regular users. A smaller site that simply tries to be “another place to find underrated movies” has almost no reason for people to switch. The original anti-woke tools were the reason people came.
Public opinion has moved significantly in the last five years. Nationalist and anti-woke sentiment is stronger now across both the US and Europe than when the site first launched. The potential audience is larger, not smaller. The problem was never that the filters were outdated — it was that the site was never properly promoted.
Look at the pattern: platforms that try to compete with YouTube by being “nicer” or more generic (Vimeo, Dailymotion, etc.) fail because they offer nothing distinctive. Twitter/X became the top news app precisely because it differentiated itself by rejecting heavy censorship. The same principle applies here. If you strip out the thing that made the site different, you just become a weaker version of something that already exists.
The market for people who want honest, non-ideological movie data is growing. Instead of removing the features that attracted users in the first place, the better move is to keep them and actually push the site — better advertising, outreach to relevant creators, clearer positioning. Uniqueness is the only real advantage a small site has. Diluting that is how it dies.

To be honest, the site has been more dead than alive – 3 reviews in the last six months. So if the community isn’t interested in it anymore, we’re down to two options: shut the site down completely, or give it a second chance by removing all the toxic content and turning it into a genuinely useful tool – for finding good underrated movies and family-friendly films without any agenda or bias.

What happened to diversity filters and wokeness filters? The diversity and gender percentages are all gone and so are the LGBT/Woke markers on movies. The “Majority white tab” on the front page is also gone. Did you remove them intentionally and permanently or are you just working to improve them and they will be back? I am very confused as those were the main reason I and most others were using this website.

I wonder if they will ever know just how much they meant to us? At a time when you couldn’t speak your mind and the Jews were pushing white genocide hard, this show kept me and many more from giving up! Well worth a watch!

We actually look for good movies, lack of degeneracy and diversity are bonus points for us. The thing is that movies used to be objectively better before and those movies also were white and normal.

Go to murdoch-murdoch.net to watch it, no way to rent or buy officially. The original creators used to be on YouTube but got banned and hosted on a site called CheekyVideos that is now down. I don’t think there is any way to give them money or support sadly, but from what the creator has said he is just happy people watch it. They recently did an interview on a YouTube channel called OldStirling though.
