With Friends Like This. . . . Bishop Bambera Imposes Jewish Categories on the Catholic Mind

The American Jewish Committee and a committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops just issued a joint statement entitled Translate Hate which claims that Catholics may be guilty of sin if they use terms like “control” or “cosmopolitan.” In his preface to Translate Hate: The Catholic Edition, Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera, Bishop of Scranton and Chairman of the Committee on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced that this document was the fruit of 60 years of Catholic-Jewish dialogue. This is one of the few statements in Translate Hate with which every Catholic can be in full agreement.
