Message 3/5	Themes of finding hope and humor as a way to endure the unendurable. To have something to look forward to, even if fabricated, gives those who are undergoing terrible hardship the strength to carry on.
Role model 3/5	While the news reports he gives are untrue and the radio everyone in the Jewish Ghetto believes he has doesn't exist, Jakob discovers that his ability to create made-up news stories about how close the Russian Army is to liberating them from Nazi persecution brings hope, courage, and resilience in the face of crushing despair.
