Enys Men, 2022 - ★½

I've gotta change saying that something is like watching paint dry to saying something is like watching lichen grow because this movie is literally just about lichen growing.

It's got some beautiful 16mm cinematography that is evocative of 70s low budget British films and the sound design is also obviously made to sound like we're listening to sound on film. I think it was cool that the overall aesthetic idea is that the film is like a lost movie from the 70s that has recently been unearthed, but that's where my compliments for the film end.

It's slow paced to a fault with very little characterization and story and, what's worse, is that it's just not scary or spooky in the slightest. It honestly feels like a short film that has been unduly expanded into a feature. The film opens with...
