Really good reboot. I hardly remember the originals though and never read the books. But this had amazing child actors. The wonders of the internet, I assume. Child actors pre 2000 were always so bad. Also the scares and character development and pacing, everything was done very well. My only gripe is that it's an analogy for fighting bigotry and how your parents f**k you up. For example, a creepy Dad will make you hate men, an overbearing bother will make you a hypochondriac, an abusive father will make a bully, etc. So yet another horror film with an allegory for childhood trauma. So its cartoonish depiction of Middle America as racist psycho pedos doesn't settle well. But it's not so bad and is done very well overall. However, it's also a lazy cash grab reboot that I don't want to encourage. So I'm glad I pirated it.
