Still good, but you can feel a change in the climate of the American culture at the time. The trajectory has me worried for the last two in the series. For example, Keira Nightley starts taking on two beefy sea creatures at a time. (Get your mind out of the locker, weirdo.) Despite her being a frail sub 10% body fat. She also says, "What makes you think I need saving?" and Johnny Depp has a meta critique about damsel's in distress. Also TONS of diversity. However, they make lots of jokes you couldn't make today. Like the entire cannibal savages side plot. Or the eunuch running gag. Or the entire thing being full of racial stereotypes like the necromancer Jamaican voodoo babe. And although Keira kicks ass and takes names, at least they treat her the way women would be treated back then. Ogling her and making sexist remarks while hookers hang around in the back of an opium den. Balanced it out somewhat. Good comfy movie, good writing, great casting, great graphics. Just don't want to give Disney any money and you can tell things are only gonna' get worse in the franchise. Keeping expectations low but eager to finish the series.🤞🏻
