Australian films are my new favorite. Always impressed. The "diversity" all felt fitting and they were all great actors. It's hard to articulate why but you can just tell the Black chick in the new Insidious was a diversity hire and doesn't fit. All the ones in this were great actors and the dynamic never once took you out of the movie. Great writing with no exposition, but instead carefully crafted foreshadowing and cookie crumbs that keep you on the edge of your seat as you piece together the plot. Love the warning about trying to contact the otherside and the parallel of stupid kids having their hubris f**k them. ( Think smoking DMT without a Shaman guide but instead doing it to go viral on TikTok. Accidentally getting possessed and raped by demons. ) If your teenage kids want to see this movie let them. It's not preachy and I don't think the creators intended for any message. It's just a really great story that was well written and executed perfectly, with an unintentional reverberation that makes you not want to do drugs or f**k with tarot cards.
