Oh, the somewhat good ol’ days when cape flicks bore more of an artist’s vision. The sixth film in the formerly known DC Extended Universe saw its success in the gradually rotting, sizzling and steaming pile of studio infiltration, beginning with the shorter theatrical version of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman, though which disingenuous critics and fans began to follow the tidal wave of online backlash; a hacked and obliterated cut of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, that poorly tailgated Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy; a bit of back and forth between Jenkins and Warner Bros. over Wonder Woman; and the utterly slashed n’ sloshed Justice League, with both the entire film, cast and crew harassed and thrown through the wringer by the oh, so ever early Master of Marvel, Joss Whedon.
