Made me sad to think about how much great art could be made in America if it didn't have to be filtered through all the woke committees and corporate checklists. It was nice to turn my brain off in regards to my defenses being up all the time even when I just want to relax and enjoy some downtime. They are not politically correct at all and have entire plots revolving around gay/gypsy/Jew stereotypes. It was like watching an 80's or 90's show but with modern technology and quality. Albeit a very low budget show since it's from Russia. If you like Viktor Tsoi and those Russian doomer playlists, you'll enjoy the soundtrack and frequent references. My only complaints are 1.) at the random Black guy marrying a White woman (literally the only Black guy in the entire series is in the background at a wedding). Was it meant to be a joke lost in translation? And 2.) the last few episodes lost me and reminded me it was a soap opera of sorts. Too many tropes like hospital cliff hangers. Overall, very sweet series full of romance that even a guy can get caught up in. Lots of action and surprises too, with a cast you really love to watch.
