I watched this film thinking I was going to see some crazy hysterical take on the dangers of role-playing games, when in reality it's just a mediocre college drama about a group of friends, college life, romance, their hobby and one of their friends developing schizophrenia, that's it. It's literally not a satanic panic scare in any sense of the word, it just has a D&D ripp-off called "Mazes and Monsters" as a catalyst for someone psychosis, alright, sounds like a good plot point. The only other sin this film commits is that it's just boring most of the time, though it redeems itself in the end. Also it has an all White-cast, so that's a bonus. Really, if anything, the hype around this film kinda shows how getting to deep into hockey fantasy culture, kinda destroys your ability to be objective... and I am actually being serious. An entire subtext is being read into this film, that just isn't there.
