3.5 Stars I think I've seen bits and pieces of Deathwish over the years. Recently I sat down and watched the whole film through to experience it in it's totality. There are a couple of highlight moments that make Deathwish just stand out as cult classic as well as some surprisingly frank and based dialog written about crime statistics and politics. The critique I have for the film is mainly the simplification of elements and sequencing of events taking place, especially near the end. Near the middle of the runtime there is a lot of potential for a dramtic or tense climax that the script kind of fumbles. Definitely a film worth watching once, but might not hold up as well on subsequent viewing.
