Was worried there would be an agenda here, or that it would disappoint, but Dune walked the narrow path. There isn't much to critique here. The film is visually magnificent - every scene a painting. Almost any scene from this would be the peak of most other movies. The only undercurrent that concerned me was some editorializing on the part of Chani and the doubting views of some other Fremenย  - but it makes sense, and could easily be interpreted as the perspective of certain characters rather than the viewpoint of the film as a whole. There is also a possible interpretation of this film through the lens of identity politics - but this interpretation could cut both ways, as the Fremen are not necessarily pure good. They are just the ones we want to root for. And even through this interpretation, it is still a great film.
