Better than American History X

I'm surprised this got the green light from Hollywood. They portray neo nazis as sympathetic characters. The whole point of the movie is to sell you on prison reform and to show that we are all one bad day away. The messaging is almost too in your face so I debated giving it 4/5 stars but I was just too impressed. I think because it's a new movie and I assumed it would be yet another cartoon villain depiction like what we see with the "American History X" prison rape scene or the "Romper Stomper" hate crimes. The movie ends and you're still rooting for the protagonist. I think the reason they got away with this is because it can work as great propaganda by making the viewer more open to wrongful convictions and to be more concerned about recidivism rates when it's a normie suburbanite thrown in prison. Rather than a dindu nuffin. Also because the main struggles are with other neo nazis, and gang life. But the reason I took no offense to that is because this was a very accurate depiction. If you watch felon YouTubers or documentaries you'll see that the guards are all very corrupt. And that many nazi gangs do meth and have prostitution rings, and so they get full of junkie rats who work with the feds. And many of them collaborate with other gangs of other races. The racial elements are purely out of survival and the rest is post hoc explanations & LARPing. And although most of the characters in the film had redeeming qualities and a sympathetic origin story, there were also the handful of sociopaths. So it was not like most post 2012 Hollywood films with a very one-sided agenda. The realism always kept you immersed even with all the dramatics. The other reason I really loved the movie and let the imperfections slide is because it was very pro male. (Meninist? MRA?) Not just because it was full of blood and violence and revenge. But because the central theme other than prison reform was a man's duty & human nature. They really glorified how most of the men would do anything for their family. Highly recommend if you liked "Brawl in Cell Block 99." Same bloody vibe, great story telling / character study, & with a deeper meaning in every other scene. P.S. We need prison reform in America for sure. But what we need before that is immigration control. In the future we will look back on this inhumane social experiment of forcing a bunch of violent felons of varying backgrounds into a tiny cement cage, the same way we view animal cruelty in gladiator times. It doesn't have to be this way: https://www.amren.com/features/2014/12/the-racial-order-of-prisons/
