Not very woke, but not a good story. Ultimately a waste of time. The mystery premise that hooks you in the first few episodes is never delivered on in a satisfying way. When it is unraveled, it comes too fast, has too many "just so" things that broke my suspension of disbelief, and was just kind of lame. The whole metaphor of the story is about if people can ever change, become "new people" and be forgiven about what they've done in the past. This is an interesting enough topic, but not explored enough and handled very poorly here. The conclusion is basically "yes... unless you hurt a whamen, sweaty, then no... just no..." Dumb as f**k. I mean really, the fat lady cop is willing to forgive and forget when he's some high level criminal who has presumably killed people, but suddenly has a crisis and can't forgive him when it's revealed he hurt (but didn't kill) some low level drug mule woman? Ridiculous. But that's assuming she's rational. She would be all over him in reality just because he's an attractive bad boy chad and would probably be MORE into it the more evil sh*t he's done. Serial killers irl get tons of fan mail from lonely women, and most of them don't have movie star looks. Obviously, it was just pushing the agenda item: "hurt whamin = THE WORST THING EBER OMG"
