Pieces of Her (2022)TV series

Andrea "Andy" Oliver (Bella Heathcote) and her mother Laura (Toni Collette) go to the mall to celebrate Andy's 31st birthday when a shooting breaks out. Amid the panic and chaos, Laura goes into ninja mode and quickly dispatches the shooter. Andy is floored and tries to figure out where this warrior she'd only known as "Mom" came from. This thriller crime series, based on the best-selling novel by Karin Slaughter, doesn't leave these two women much time for talking it out. Enemies from Laura's old, secret life see the viral video of the mall incident and soon come around looking for answers, and, in some cases, payback. Pieces of Her also received the 2021-2022 ReFrame Stamp for its gender-balanced hiring.
