This time around, director Angelina Jolie (In the Land of Blood and Honey) tackles World War II in this film about USA Olympian and Army Lieutenant Louie Zamperini (Jack O’Connell - Seberg). Louie survives a plane crash in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and, after drifting out at sea for over a month, lands on Marshall Island where he is taken to a Japanese POW camp and tortured daily. When the American forces liberate the prisoners, Louie must come to terms with his abuse and learn to heal. Based on the book, Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Lauren Hillenbrand.
