Director Tim Burton's (Beetlejuice) reimagining of the classic Washington Irving ghost story centers on fastidious and skittish investigator Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp - Chocolat), who is sent to the titular hamlet to look into a rash of beheadings. Crane is enamored of modern forensic gadgets, seeing the dawning nineteenth century as a new age of science. But the local folk are already convinced that the killer is the Headless Horseman (Christopher Walken - Pulp Fiction), a long-dead Hessian cavalryman who leaves his victims headless, and a confrontation between Ichabod, with his scientific methods, and a being who defies such logic is inevitable.
