Zeros and Ones (2021)Movies

This dystopian-futuristic thriller from enigmatic filmmaker Abel Ferrara (Pasolini) takes place in a war-and-terrorism-torn Rome, where historical and religious buildings are blown up. Elite soldier JJ (Ethan Hawke - First Reformed) has been sent to try to thwart the terrorist attacks. However, as the plot coils into a knot, JJ finds that his brother (Hawke, in a dual role) has been accused by various factions of being a communist, an anarchist, and a terrorist and is being tortured for information. This hellish near future, set during a pandemic, is a bleak vision of a future without much hope.
