It’s 1958 and Richard (Joel Edgerton - Boy Erased) and Mildred (Ruth Negga - Ad Astra) Loving are newly married and eager to start a family. But there’s a catch: it’s Virginia, interracial relationships are illegal, and Richard is a white man, while Mildred is a Black woman. Based on the true story of Mildred and Richard Loving, the plaintiffs in the famous Loving v. Virginia court case that eventually made it to the Supreme Court and helped overturn anti-miscegenation laws, this film follows their struggle to raise their family in peace and, in the process, change the course of history.
