This science-fiction film is a continuation of the Firefly series written and directed by Joss Whedon. In an alternate future, where humanity has colonized a new solar system, River (Summer Glau) is a psychic being trained as an assassin by the Alliance, comprised of the central planets to fight against the outer planets, the Independents. Her brother, Sam (Sean Maher) breaks her out mid-training after she reads the minds of government officials and learns their secrets, making her a target. They find refuge aboard the spaceship Serenity with Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion – Waitress) and his crewmates, whose business involves petty heists. Now they must fight to protect River from the Alliance that has sent their best fighter after her.
