Widowed bookkeeper Loretta (Cher - Mermaids) lives in Brooklyn with her parents (Olympia Dukakis - Steel Magnolias and Vincent Gardenia), who take an active role in advising her on life choices. To avoid her second marriage being as cursed as the first (her husband died young), she’s engaged to a man she likes but doesn’t love, and Loretta is determined to do things by the book this time around. But when Loretta’s fiancé asks her to reach out and invite his estranged brother (Nicolas Cage - Color Out of Space) to the wedding, her carefully baked plans run into an unexpected, big pizza pie of amore.
