Heaven Can Wait (1978)Movies

This 1978 slapstick comedy follows football great Joseph Pendleton (played by co-writer and co-director Warren Beatty - Bonnie and Clyde) after his guardian angel mistakenly takes him to heaven forty-five years earlier than scheduled. Unable to go back to Earth in his old body, Joe is persuaded to take the body of another man, millionaire industrialist Leo Farnsworth (also portrayed by Beatty). Joe tries to get back to his old life, but finds it’s not so easy after he discovers Leo’s cheating, golddigger wife and her lover are plotting his demise in this farce co-written with Elaine May (The Birdcage) and co-directed with Buck Henry.
