Came for the practical effects stayed for the unpredictable stories and unique style. Everything happens in 3's and sometimes there is a tragedy or a twist that would never happen in a Disney adaptation. You just don't see stuff like this anymore. Reminds me a bit of "The Laughing Salesman" in that sense. Retro and ambivalent vibes. A kind of dark that no newer shows/movies do. Nowadays, there is super dark and gritty stuff like Batman. Hyper realism or whatever it's called. Or the snarky meta dark comedy stuff and Troma things that are very self aware in their slapstick approach or dark content. Leaning into it. This is more like the classic Twilight Zone that is more eerie than anything. It doesn't leave you feeling gross or depressed, but it's definitely not cheery either. Anyways, quality stuff and the HD AI remaster made it very enjoyable. Free on YouTube.
