Affirmative Action
A TV show for kids about human biology ... because yes, biology exists, and yes, it matters. Each episode is about a part of the human body (cells, brain, blood, lungs, etc.) and is understandable by a smart 5-years-old kid or an average 7-years-old. It is well explained, and the level of description fits the level of understanding of a child of this age. The science is a tiny but outdated, but it's not a real problem : if your kids learn all that, they'll already be more knowledgeable than all the other ones at school, and even more than some teachers. NeoMarxism 0/5 : nothing on this topic. I would even consider that some of the episodes, especially the ones about the defense system of the body, insist on the fact that it's natural for any living organism to welcome what is considered as "me" and fight against what is understood as "not-me". Misandry 0/5 : not a single minute on this topic. If you are particularly sensitive on this topic, you could consider that the fact that all the bad guys are male is an issue, but given the very low number of female characters, I wouldn't consider that as misandry. Affirmative Action 1/5 : actually, it was considered as already quite progressist, for a french TV show in the 1980's, to include a brown female as one of the main characters (BTW : she's not Black, she's mixed-race, and from Brazil). But compared to nowaday's standards, it's absolutely minor. LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ bullsh*t 0/5 : none, nothing, not a single word. The only word about sexuality is about its reproductive function. And the only sexual intercourse depicted (with non-obscene pictures) is heterosexual, and happens inside a supposedly married couple. Anti-God Themes 0/5 : the show is about biology. All in all, it doesn't speak about God at all. But it is not against religion neither : the episode about the brain concludes with "And what is consciousness exactly ? Well ... we don't know for sure ... maybe the soul ?". So it leaves every opinion possible. My kids watch this show every now and then, and they love it.
