I watched this movie when I was a kid. I love it so much. Just recently I rewatched it again and I can tell for sure this is one of my favorite movies. This is kind of movies you watch many times and you don’t get tired of it. Actors are great! I love them both (Rachel McAdams and Rob Schneider). I recommend you to watch The Hot Chick. You will spend your time great :)
I loved this film. Pay to see it. It's long and tough to watch though, so prepare yourself.
Even as an agnostic, I thought this film brought up some great philosophical questions, with no obvious pushed conclusion. It's left up to interpretation and felt more like a retelling of events than Christian propaganda. Obviously, it portrays faith in a positive light, so Christians...
Truly a masterpiece. Beautifully shot, great story, with fantastic music and sound design that adds up to a very effective horror movie. I love the surrealness of the nightmares and the amazing practical effects.
Practically perfect in every way. Every component that goes into filmmaking is exceptional throughout these movies. The CG does show it's age compared to modern movies but that's normal, and it's actually holds up pretty well for being nearly 20 years old. If you're intimidated by the run times, you don't have to watch it all in one sitting ya dangus!
I thought it was written by Mel but it wasn't. Lots of stuff seemed to be parallel with his life: recovery, Catholicism, nazi father figure, etc. But the screenplay was based on a book and it was written and directed by other folks. Anyways, great film. Nice twist for the typical revenge type father daughter trope. Great acting and foreshadowing and symbolism throughout. Really badass protagonists...
I love a good ocean movie and this could might maybe be the best! Based on a true story, I'd also really recommend the documentary from 1950. Great story, looks awesome, beautiful score.
I absolutely love this one! It's a light film noir that takes place in 1940s L.A. and mixes live-action and animation. It is incredibly well done and it's awesome seeing so many beloved classic Warner Brothers and Disney characters on the same screen. Bob Hoskins plays the lead and gives a perfect performance. I've watched this one dozens of times since I was a kid and it never fails to keep me entertained...
Totally epic alien horror thriller film. Although this film was made over 40 years ago, it's still amazing! Female protagonist, but no anit-male Hollywood BS. Just goes to show it can be done. No reference to hating god or pushing the LGBT agenda.
Overall this is a fantastic movie. One reason is: it is complex. There are so many films made for the lowest common denominator audience member now that something that is difficult to follow is almost a treat. I don't think even the film makers thought anyone could follow all of the plot points the first time through. The time element is probably the most difficult to follow because this is different...
This film immerses the viewer into a brutal world where a series of unrelenting tragedies barrages the characters in a majestic setting filled with beauty and grace. I enjoyed it.
There are many Christmas themed horror movies, and most of them are very bad. Nearly impossible to watch. Rare Exports is an exception. If you plan to watch a Christmas themed horror film, this is an excellent choice.
If Pulp Fiction, Nobody, Breaking Bad, American Beauty, and Falling Down, all had a baby, it would be this movie. A bit dated and cheesy at parts, but fantastic overall. The middle may lose you but stick around until the end and I'd say it redeems itself. There is a great reoccurring theme of a tamed wolf that works great as the social commentary of the emasculated modern male,...
Most older movies have really slow pacing and bad timing. And rarely are timeless. Although this film isn't as fluid as other classics like "Casablanca" it still stands up to this day. Just give it some time to get into the plot (around 25 minutes or so).
Without spoiling too much, it's basically a super redpilled movie on the failings of democracy. Not quite a "Might Makes...
This is a film about a mentally challenged twenty year old man who sustained an injury during his birth, or technically his failed abortion. He visits his mother and her family for the first time on Christmas because his adoptive father has passed away.
In addition to being brutal, gross, creepy, and tragic, they capture family dynamics perfectly and the characters’ behavior is eerily true to...
There are tons of black people in this film, but that's the whole premise. It's suburban white kids in downtown Chicago with dangerous black people and truckers. So it's fitting to have so many. I only put 1 "affirmative action" rating because even though the blacks often filled relatable stereotypes, there was also a "save the day" type black guy in there. But he's likeable and not some preachy crap....
Amazing film! Well written. Lovable characters. Lots of foreshadowing. Intentional homages (in editing and lighting) to old Middle Eastern adventure type movies. Great feelings all around. And the main girl was independent but perfect! Minor feminist undertones, one could argue. But she was a librarian who used her skills in this area to be useful. She was brave, but also scared at times and let the...
Truly great film. CGI is a bit outdated but it's still rather exciting. Also, it encourages a nice white family. Couple scenes where the patriarchs are kicking ass and taking names and putting women in their place. Definitely would trigger the modern day feminist. Could be perceived as anti-male, but that's not how I took it. It was realistic, relatable. Stern dad but happy family. Touching movie as...
Great film. Absolutely amazing. No wonder it was so popular. I had no idea what it was about and was continually left surprised because I expected a cliché romantic comedy or success story.
Also, the black white buddy cop dynamic felt real and relatable. Very unique. Very heartwarming.
And the debate is always if movies transform the culture or reflect it. In this instance, it seems...
Eastwood at his best. Gritty portrayal of life and the cold dish of revenge in the Old West. Miscegenation of Morgan Freeman and a white woman but nothing graphic. Jew writer portrayed as a cowardly turncoat. Fantastic performances by Eastwood, Ed Harris, Freeman. Amazing that this earned a best picture Oscar. Could never happen today.
All-star cast including Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg. Fantastic pace. Funny script. Sight gags. Incredible chemistry. If you were waiting for the movie that you'd want to watch year after year like Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase and Beverly DeAngelo, well-your wait is over. Underrated classic!
